A Global Administrator must first select the data residency region for email storage and processing before configuring Email Security. This choice affects all sites on your account and cannot be changed later.
To select the data residency region:
- As a Global Administrator, go to Manage > Email Security.
- Select the desired data region for storing and processing your email data, considering compliance and data sovereignty. The data center options are
- United States (US): Datacenter located in Oregon
- The European Union (EU): Datacenter located in Germany.
- Check the box to acknowledge the warning.
- Click Confirm to save and lock in your data residency region.
After this, you can set up Email Security integrations with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, ensuring your email data complies with your chosen region.
The data residency region selected is displayed in the Email Security widget on your Dashboard, alongside the protected email domains and counts of protected and purchased mailboxes.
