Create an alias for endpoints in OneView

OneView lets you create an alias, a simpler, more memorable name, for any managed endpoint. This is useful when device names are complex or hard to identify at a glance. Aliases are only visible in OneView; users at the endpoint see no changes. 

You can search endpoints by either their fully qualified domain name or alias, and hovering over an alias reveals the original hostname. 

1. On the left navigation pane, go to Manage > Endpoints.
2. Click on the endpoint you want to rename.
3. In the endpoint slide-out, click the pencil icon.
   
4. A text field displays. Enter an alias for the endpoint. Your alias must meet the following requirements:
   • Max of 64 alphanumeric characters.
   • May include any of the following characters:
     !@#$%^&*_+-=:)(}{|"><?~`][;,./'
5. Click Save.

To update or remove an alias, click the pencil icon, clear the field, and save.
