In Nebula, actions that are queued or pending on endpoints are referred to as Tasks. The Tasks page shows on-demand activities requested on endpoints in the last 90 days. These activities can be asset management scans, malware scans, quarantine restore, or quarantine delete. Use the page to check the status of commands run from the console.
Task data
The following columns are available on the Tasks page:
- Task: Type of task. Tasks issued to multiple endpoints are grouped into one parent task. Click on the task name for more details about the endpoints included in the task and any failure reasons.
- Endpoint: Number of endpoints that were issued the task.
- Issued by: Nebula user who issued the task.
- Issued at: Time the task was issued.
- Expires: Time the task expires. Tasks have 72 hours to complete.
- Progress: Total progress of a task relative to the number of tasks issued.
- In progress: At least 1 endpoint is still pending or processing the task.
- Completed: All tasks have a success, failed, expired, or canceled status.
- Status: Color-coded bar to indicate the status of the task issued to each endpoint. The colors are as follows:
Completed: The action is successful..
Failed: Click on the Task and check for a possible reason.
Expired: The endpoint did not receive the command after pending for 72 hours.
Pending: The endpoint is waiting to receive the command. Tasks stay pending for up to 72 hours. Only pending tasks can be canceled with the Cancel Pending Tasks action.

Expand task details
Under the Type column, click one of the listed task types to view more details. In the Task details window, you can view the following information:
- Endpoint: Endpoints issued the task.
- Status: Status of the task.
- Reason: Reason for task failure.
From this window, you can also take action on tasks for individual endpoints.
Manage tasks
The following options are available in the Actions menu of the Tasks page:
- Cancel: Cancel a pending task.
- Use this if you need to cancel a reboot or scan before the task begins.
- The window to cancel a task is small if an endpoint has an active websocket connection, since task quickly switches from pending to processing.
- Reissue: Reissue a task that is Successful, Failed, or Expired.
- Download .csv: Export a report in .csv format containing the selected rows of data.
- Download .xlsx: Export a report in .xlsx format containing the selected rows of data.
- If the data size is too large to download, an email will be sent instead with a link to download the export.
