Browser Phishing Protection extension still installed after disabling from policy

Issue

The Browser Phishing Protection (BPP) extension stays installed after it is disabled from the policy settings.

Symptom

  • The Browser Phishing Protection still appears enabled in the user's browser.

  • In chrome://policy, the extension's policy entries change to user-level.

Cause

The extension is cached by the operating system until the browser is restarted.

Resolution 

Completely close and restart the browser. If the issue persists, restart the endpoint.
