Cloud storage implementations are similar to on-premises Common Internet File System and Server Message Block file sharing. Therefore, cloud storage is a way of storing data on the internet where provisioning ease and data durability far exceed what is typically designed for on-premises solutions.
Cloud storage invites file sharing and collaboration among internal and external users alike. Using multiple cloud storage services allows you to backup and replicate data easily, accommodate users in different countries, and capitalize on each service’s unique strengths. As the shift to storing data in the cloud continues to mature, the volume and extent of demand will continue to expand.
If your organization is like most, you store data in the cloud and use more than one cloud storage service. Like most, you may be using two or more cloud storage vendors, and each vendor’s implementation is different (e.g., AWS S3 versus Google Cloud versus Microsoft Azure, etc.). Therefore, what is needed is an independent malware scanner, Cloud Storage Scanning (CSS).
There is a lack of security and visibility when it comes to files that are uploaded and downloaded from cloud storage providers. The CSS service monitors malicious files across supported cloud storage providers. Harden your environment by adopting a multi-vector defense strategy and quickly manage cloud storage detections and quarantine with a single console. Then, utilize Nebula to view data, schedule reports, and receive alerts on cloud storage threats.
Continuous and scheduled monitoring
To begin using CSS, configure a continuous or scheduled scan. Use a continuous scan to monitor for changes and newly uploaded files automatically. A continuous scan is a more cost-effective way to monitor your cloud storage providers. For more information, see What's the difference between a scheduled scan and a continuous scan.
Data transfer and storage
CSS securely copies the target files under 100Mb each to a temporary storage location using APIs provided by the support cloud storage vendors. Files are then scanned and immediately deleted from the temporary storage location. For more information, see How are files scanned.
